Description

Tighnamara is an excellently placed property in the centre of Pooley Bridge, with the beautiful river running at the bottom of the garden. The property is set all on the ground floor, including two spacious bedrooms, a family shower room and a second separate toilet. There is a separate dining room, well-equipped kitchen and a relaxing living room complete with a cosy wood burner and patio doors leading out to the private garden.
With an enviable location at the edge of the Ullswater Lake, you have water sports, cycling and walking right on your doorstep. For the hikers in your group there are the nearby fells that include the High Street range, just 1 mile away, and Helvellyn, 10 miles away. South of the lake you can drive over the scenic Kirkstone Pass which takes you down into the popular town of Ambleside and Lake Windermere. The traditional market town of Penrith is a 15-minute drive away and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Whether you plan to leave the car parked up and enjoy all that Tighnamara and Pooley Bridge have to offer or going further afield to explore the Lake District, this is the perfect base from which to do so. Offering a good selection of shops and boasting some truly wonderful views, Pooley Bridge is an excellent holiday home for exploring all of the Lake District and the Eden Valley as to offer. About the local area

Ullswater is the Lake District's second largest lake at nine miles long. Located in the eastern side of Cumbria, it bends and twists its way through dramatic mountain scenery on one side and a gently curving shoreline of green fields and woodland on the other.

Boating centres and marinas nestle unobtrusively on the lake edge, perfect for the water sports enthusiasts, or visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery from one of the steamers that have sailed the lake since 1855.

Many of the Lake District's many walks have their starting point from around Ullswater, including the renowned trek to Helvellyn's summit via Striding Edge. Or for the less energetic there are many low-level walks through beautiful countryside.

Of note is Glenridding which sits on the south western shore and is surrounded by the fells with wonderful scenic views. Pooley Bridge on the northern shore, with its 16th Century Bridge, Lakeland greystone houses and quaint teashops and Patterdale just to the south of Ullswater, cradled by mountains.

Just above Pooley Bridge and easily accessible from the roadside Gowbarrow is south facing and offers some really worthwhile climbs on the middle crag.

On either side of the lake, there are places where you can go sailing.

Lake Ullswater

Ullswater is said by many to be the most beautiful lake in the Lake District. It is the second longest lake in Cumbria measuring a length of seven and a half miles and a width of _ mile.

Rheged

Located just off the M6 J.40 between the northern lakes market town of Penrith and the village of Stainton, Rheged is a surprising building of architectural merit.

On the northern side of the lake, a short walk from the lake shore you can find one of the Lake District's most stunning and famous waterfalls.

To experience one of the best panoramic views of Lake Ullswater, you should hike up Hallin Fell which is situated mid way down the lake and is part of the well known `kink' in the length of the waters.
