Description
These quirky and compact shepherds’ huts provide peace, tranquillity, stunning views and are just a stone’s throw from Keswick, Threlkeld and St Johns in the Vale. Are you bored of staying in dull cottages? Mire House Shepherds Huts offer something a little different. Located on the owners’ working sheep farm, their cute and compact design means you’ll have all the essentials and it’s a stay you’ll remember for all the right reasons. They’re perfect for a romantic getaway and they are excellently located to explore the Northern Lake District. They feature a double bed, a TV, a compact dining area with stools and a modern kitchenette complete with a two-ring hob, fridge, combination microwave/oven/grill and enough storage and workspace to prepare a meal for two. This takes glamping to a whole new level! It is also big enough to feature a fully fitted shower room with shower cubicle, sink, heated towel rail and toilet - just perfect for two people. Of course cooking and washing up will be the last thing on the agenda with such a great selection of dining experiences in the area. You have two great pubs in the village of Threlkeld just 1¾ miles away, so you can take a 5-minute taxi ride, or it can easily be reached on foot in about 30 minutes. It is a lovely walk and offers a great reward once you get there. Plus you can take in the sights of the surrounding fells as well as view some of the amazing wildlife including buzzards, kestrels and, of course, red squirrels. You are surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Lake District Northern Fells, with Blencathra to the front. Stepping outside this well-designed space, you have your own private outdoor seating area where you can soak up the morning sun. There is private parking as well, and access to some great local walks, wildlife and cycle routes.
Mire House Shepherds Huts are just 4 miles from the bustling town centre of Keswick, which is brimming with a great selection of bars, shops, restaurants, nightlife, independent boutiques, a great local market and plenty of days out and activities nearby. There is lots to discover in this traditional market town, with its little streets and courtyards. Keswick is home to The Derwent Pencil Museum, which has the largest pencil in the world. If you like culture, The Theatre by the Lake offers a stunning lakeside location and award-winning arts and drama. Water sports are available on Derwentwater. If you love outdoor adventure, including walking, cycling and climbing, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes. Or if you want a really wild day out, try the Lake District Wildlife Park or to stimulate the taste buds you can try a gin tasting tour at the famous Lakes Distillery - both are just 12 miles away in Bassenthwaite. Beach 25 miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.
Skiddaw can be booked together with Clough Head (ref UK12715) and Blencathra (ref UK12716) to accommodate up to 6 guests.
