Description

The impressive backdrop of Blencathra one of the most iconic and impressive fells in the Lake District National Park awaits you each morning when you step out of Swallow Bank Lodge. You can enjoy panoramic views across the countryside and direct views up the slopes of this magnificent Lakeland Fell. Swallow Bank Lodge is one of six identical detached timber lodges on a working beef and sheep farm. It’s unique location means you can be closer to nature, feel at one with the great outdoors and have direct access to many walking and cycling routes up this impressive fell.
This brand new detached timber pod, sited in 2018, offers the latest in micro-lodge technology. Featuring everything you need for a comfortable stay you’ll remember this timber pod for all the right reasons. The pod is a world apart from your typical ‘glamping-pod’. With underfloor heating and a full-sized double bed you can be sure of a good night’s sleep. It features a fully fitted kitchen with ample storage so you can cook up a feast after a long day of exploration. The micro-lodge is great fun and even comes with a dining table for four, a TV with Freeview channels so you can relax with a board game after a nice meal, and it even has a private outdoor area with a bench for soaking up the afternoon sun while you sit, read, relax and watch the wildlife. The pod can also accommodate up to four people so they are perfect for families. Think of it as much more exciting than bricks and mortar!
Lowside Farm Lodges are situated just off the A66 which is the main route that cuts through Cumbria, from Penrith in the east and continuing to the west coast. There is easy access to all of the Northern Lake District Fells and much of the stunning scenery this part of the world has to offer. The popular town of Keswick is just 6½ miles away with an abundance of bars, shops, restaurants and nightlife as well as some great tourist attractions and a local market. Shop 3 miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 2½ miles.
Swallow Bank Lodge can be booked together with Lambrigg Lodge (ref UK1306), Holly Tree Lodge (ref UK1308), Combe Beck Lodge (ref UK1309), Lea Field Lodge (ref UK1310) and Bluebell Lodge (ref UK1311) to accommodate up to 24 guests.

About the local area

Threlkeld and St. Johns in the Vale are just to the east of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The steep sided Blencathra looms over Threlkeld village, a popular starting point for walking the mountain; three ridges lead to the summit from the village. St. Johns in the Vale, as the name suggests is set in a peaceful valley surrounded by some of England's highest mountains.

Threlkeld's history reaches back more than 800 years; the Romans were here from the 3rd to the 8th century, followed later by the Norse. In the village the church dates back to 1578 and there are two pubs that first opened their doors in 1688.

St. Johns in the Vale is in one of the most stunning valleys in the Northern Lake District. Though only a few miles outside Keswick, the area is tranquil and unspoilt with great views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn range.

There are many places of interest within easy reach; beautiful Ullswater to the east, the lively market town of Keswick and Derwentwater to the West and Thirlmere to the south, with forest walks and fishing.
