Description

This pretty terraced cottage built from locally sourced stone is one of just six properties on a working beef and sheep farm. This quiet part of the farm is dedicated to a handful of holiday cottages all in landscaped grounds and just perfect for a peaceful and memorable stay. Inside the cottage you’ll find everything you need including a well equipped kitchen with views to the rear garden and sheep in the fields beyond. On the ground floor you’ll also find an open plan living/dining room which makes a great social space for a family get together. Derwent Dale Cottage comfortably sleeps six guests in two double bedrooms and a twin room, each with plenty of storage for your belongings, making it ideal for larger families and couples. From the ground floor you can access the garden which has been newly renovated for 2018 and now features decking with patio furniture, artificial grass for a bit of year round colour, and the best bit, a relaxing hot tub so you can sooth those aches and pains after a long day of adventure. If you like the outdoors, you have direct access to Blencathra which can offer anything from a leisurely stroll to a quite challenging climb. Other Lakeland Fells in the area include Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Catbells and Latrigg, so pack your walking boots!
Doddick Farm Cottages are situated on the main route from Penrith to Keswick and are just off the A66 so you’re never too far from any of the local delights including two excellent pubs with local ales and great food. Keswick Golf Club, which is surrounded by amazing scenery, is just 1 mile away. You can reach Keswick in just 5 miles which boasts a number of fantastic restaurants, bars, pubs, shops, a very popular local market and a number of attractions. There are a variety attractions for children including Puzzling Place, a fun attraction based on optical illusions, or perhaps the Derwent Pencil Museum, where you can find the largest pencil in the world. Make sure to visit the Theatre by the Lake. Set on the shores of Derwentwater it offers award-winning drama and arts and with such a beautiful backdrop you can watch the sunset over the lake. If you want to try some water sports while you’re on holiday, you have Derwentwater just 7 miles away, Thirlmere within 8 miles and Bassenthwaite within 10 miles. About the local area

Threlkeld and St. Johns in the Vale are just to the east of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The steep sided Blencathra looms over Threlkeld village, a popular starting point for walking the mountain; three ridges lead to the summit from the village. St. Johns in the Vale, as the name suggests is set in a peaceful valley surrounded by some of England's highest mountains.

Threlkeld's history reaches back more than 800 years; the Romans were here from the 3rd to the 8th century, followed later by the Norse. In the village the church dates back to 1578 and there are two pubs that first opened their doors in 1688.

St. Johns in the Vale is in one of the most stunning valleys in the Northern Lake District. Though only a few miles outside Keswick, the area is tranquil and unspoilt with great views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn range.

There are many places of interest within easy reach; beautiful Ullswater to the east, the lively market town of Keswick and Derwentwater to the West and Thirlmere to the south, with forest walks and fishing.
