Nestled in Threlkeld, just along from St John in the Vale, a walking and cycling paradise, this cottage is just 10 minutes’ drive from the picturesque and bustling market town of Keswick with its great cafés and restaurants, shops and pubs, as well as Derwentwater. With mighty Blencathra to the front and Clough Head at the back, the views are truly breathtaking. Helvellyn also awaits!
Blencathra Skies has been designed to maximise the incredible views, with picnic tables at the front and rear of the property making al fresco dining and a glass of wine the perfect option. The rear garden gets the sun all day long and at the front you can watch the sun go down over Blencathra or gaze at the stars in the dark sky.
Inside, the spacious living/dining room with the large wood burner welcomes you, inviting you to snuggle up on one of the sofas and enjoy the view. You have Freesat TV/DVD available offering plenty of viewing options. Wake up to Blencathra in the master bedroom, which has a comfortable kingsize sleigh bed. There is a second bedroom with twin beds and a contemporary family bathroom. The kitchen has a butler sink and traditional slate floor and is well equipped.
Walk through the meadows to the village for a pub lunch or dinner. Pets are welcome at Blencathra Skies so no one needs miss out. The cottage has its own drive at the front, and bikes and any bulky outdoor equipment can be stored in the large shed next to the drive.

About the local area

Threlkeld and St. Johns in the Vale are just to the east of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The steep sided Blencathra looms over Threlkeld village, a popular starting point for walking the mountain; three ridges lead to the summit from the village. St. Johns in the Vale, as the name suggests is set in a peaceful valley surrounded by some of England's highest mountains.

Threlkeld's history reaches back more than 800 years; the Romans were here from the 3rd to the 8th century, followed later by the Norse. In the village the church dates back to 1578 and there are two pubs that first opened their doors in 1688.

St. Johns in the Vale is in one of the most stunning valleys in the Northern Lake District. Though only a few miles outside Keswick, the area is tranquil and unspoilt with great views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn range.

There are many places of interest within easy reach; beautiful Ullswater to the east, the lively market town of Keswick and Derwentwater to the West and Thirlmere to the south, with forest walks and fishing.
