Description

Barn Owl Bothy has been converted in 2018 from the original 16th-century farmhouse to provide a beautifully furnished studio apartment, with its very own hot tub and raised verandah overlooking the farm. The studio-style apartment is beautifully decorated, and the open plan living space and bedroom area give direct access to the verandah. There is an additional 4ft bed accessed by a ladder, suitable for 1 adult or 2 children. The fully tiled shower room completes this beautiful studio.

Barn Owl Bothy on Wallace Lane Farm with six other holiday properties, is surrounded by stunning countryside on the northern fringes of the Lake District National Park with views towards the Solway Coast. It is set in 23 acres of land with a vast array of wildlife which guests can enjoy, and has panoramic views to the sea and the Scottish hills beyond. If you can tear yourself away from Barn Owl Bothy, it is well placed to walk the tranquil Northern Fells or to visit the unspoilt Cumbrian coast, Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall. The beautiful Cumbrian village of Caldbeck, with a pub, tea rooms and shop, is a short drive away. Beach 16¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
Barn Owl Bothy can be booked together with Woodpecker Cottage (CC119136), Nuthatch Cottage (CC119138), Treehouse Cabin (UK1087), Osprey Lodge (UK11317), Kestrel Cabin (UK1246), Farmhouse Cottage (UK1285), Safari Tent (UK1286), Curlew (UK1389), Lapwing (UK1390), Merlin’s Cabin (UK1391), Robins Lodge (UK13643), Robins Lodge (UK13643) and Starling Lodge (UK31071) to accommodate up to 53 guests.

This area is rich walking and cycling country, with breathtaking local peaks such as Skiddaw and Blencathra, old mine trails and picturesque limestone gorges with waterfalls waiting to be explored. It really is a place to `get away from it all' but is also within comfortable reach of Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater and Ullswater lakes.

The renowned Mae's Tea Room and Gallery in Uldale is open throughout the year, serving tasty home cooked food through the day and some evenings and exhibits paintings by local artists.

Enjoy a tipple and some lovely pub grub at Emily's Black Lion - a traditional, family friendly village pub nestling on the Northern fringe of the Lake District in the lovely village of Ireby.

Named after the `cold beck' which runs through the village, Caldbeck was once an important centre for lead mining and corn and woollen milling. The old mines have long since blended back into the dramatic landscape and the mills are now craft workshops and a locally well known restaurant called `Priests Mill'. At the centre of the village is St. Ketingern's church dating back to 1112.

Just down the road is Hesket Newmarket, a pretty village set around a wide green with a canopied market cross. Hesket is also known for its tiny brewery which supplies several local inns within the area.
