Wastwater is the deepest lake in the whole of the Lake District with a depth of 260 feet. This is well argued to be one of the most spectacular and beautiful lakes in Cumbria; with amazing peaks surrounding the water. These peaks are Red Pike, Kirk Fell, Great Gable and the highest in England, Scafell Pike.

If you are visiting the Lake, it is worth going to see St. Olaf's Church situated inbetween the Yew trees in the fields on the Wasdale end of the lake. Amazing beams can be seen inside the church, which are suggested to be from Viking ships. A strong connection is kept with this churchas many of thegraves here areof climbers who have died on the fells.
