To experience the amazing underwater world of the Lake Districts seas and coasts, you have to head to the harbour in Maryport where you can find The Lake District Coast Aquarium. Winner of the Cumbria Tourism Small Visitor Attraction of the Year 2010, it will ensure a great day out for all of the family!
The aquarium is one of the best places to see some of the marine life of the Irish Sea with 50 themed and informative displays. A highlight of the attraction is the Ray Pool where you have the chance to gently stroke rays as they swim in their tank, a great chance to get up close to them. Another great favourite of visitors is the Cascading Rock Pools which is where you are allowed to have hands on contact with the inhabitants such as starfish.
It doesn't stop at the sea life displays in the aquarium as there are plenty other attractions on offer, such as Radio Control Boats, an Adventure Playground and Mini Golf.
An exhibition centre is also situated at the aquarium, The Wild Solway Centre with a Shark and Film which attracts a lot of interest. With lots of activities and sites to see this is a guaranteed day of fun for all the family!
