Muncaster Castle and Gardens is a fantastic day out if you're in the West Lake District area. With an extensive list of gardens as well as a World Owl Centre, home to the World Owl Trust, this place provides a great day our for all the family.

`Meet the Bird' displays are held daily by the World Owl Centre on the grand lawns of the castle, with over 200 birds in the centre, this is definitely something which is worth seeing. The display includes a talk given on the owls and other birds ofpreys at the centre, a great opportunity to see the birds in flight and have a photograph taken with them.

The castle is a spectacular historic building known for its haunted happenings, with events going on throughout the year from Victorian Christmas Tours to Overnight Ghost Vigils. The castle is full of history, dating back to 1208!

To add something special to your visit, you can wander round the grounds which are home to lovely gardens dating back to the 18th Century.The gardensare now also inpartnership with the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh, which allows many endangered plants and trees to thrive in this beautiful location.
