Situated near the village of Little Salkeld, this impressive stone circle has a diameter of 350 feet. This makes it the second biggest stone circle in the country dating back from the estimated time of 1500BC. Mystery surrounds the circle with some people believing it was formed as a religious meeting point, the local legend tells of Long Meg and her daughters being turned to stone when dancing wildly on the moor; with the spell being broken when someone is able to count the same number of stones twice in the circle. This fantastic formation is definitely worth a visit.
