The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway was originally used to carry passengers from Lakeside to Ulverston and Barrow and then on into Lancashire. Although closed in the 1960's three and a halfmiles of the line from Haverthwaite still operates. Your journey will consist of both lake and river scenery of the Leven Valley. The Lakeside Station is at the Lakeside Pier, at the southern end of Windermere, where you can arrive by boat from Waterhead or Bowness.
