The popular woodland of Grizedale Forest measures over 24km squared and is full of activities and attractions to enjoy during your holiday. A large number of different coloured walking routes are available to do with many having different sculptures to explore and find during your venture in to the trees. The award winning sculpture trails which are home to up to 90 sculptures was set up by the Grizedale Society years ago in 1977 and is still popular today.

The woodland isn’t the only natural feature to this area as hidden in the hills you can find small tarns and the two settlements of Satterthwaite and Grizedale. If you want to explore the woodland in this area and walking is a bit too slow paced for you, why not try one of the many mountain bike trails. A thrilling circuit of 10 miles can be done by joining together all 9 sections of the North Face Mountain Trails which is a fantastic mountain bike trail development. You can hire bikes on site. If you have got children with you then the shorter walking trails in the woodland followed by a visit to the visitors centre is an ideal way to spend your day. At the visitor centre you can enjoy a bite to eat in the cafe and there is a brilliant adventure playground to keep the children occupied!
