Description

Puddle Duck Cottage is a traditional lakeland stone property, with many traditional features and modern day comforts, the accommodation is set over three floors so there is plenty of room for everyone, making it a great place for families and friends to stay. A bright and airy living room is perfect to relax after a great day out, warm in front of the multi-fuel stove on those cooler darker evenings. A further seating area is ideal for teenagers to have some of their own space, watch a film or make use of the Wi-Fi on their tablets or phones. The kitchen has a large larder fridge and built-in dishwasher, in addition to a double range cooker with gas hob and electric oven. The sociable, open-plan living, dining room and kitchen is superb for enjoying yourselves, entertaining family and friends, especially around the large, oak dining table.
A handy utility area is a good place to leave wet jackets and muddy boots. The freezer and washing machine can also be found in this room, and French doors lead inside from the garden. Upstairs on the first floor, the master bedroom enjoys its very own en-suite shower room, whilst two further bedrooms (one double, one twin) have share of the large family bathroom. On the second floor is another additional kingsize room with exclusive use of the en-suite bathroom. Outside, an enclosed, private paved courtyard is found to the rear, the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine or an evening family barbecue together.

The popular village of Windermere is right on your doorstep, with a vast range of local shops, cafés and bars all within easy walking distance. Tourist attractions are not far away too, Bowness-on-Windermere is less than a mile away, with family favourite World of Beatrix Potter, Windermere cruises and of course probably the best known stretch of water itself, Windermere! Ambleside, Kendal and Coniston are all a short drive away, so this is an excellent base to explore from. Puddle Duck Cottage is perfect for a family break in Cumbria. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

About the local area

Lake Windermere is perhaps the best know area in the Lake District and Windermere village itself is about 1km from the lake. The lake stretches from Waterhead, near Ambleside, to Lakeside at its narrow southern end, over 10 miles in length and the largest lake in England. Wooded slopes dotted with cottages and houses line its shores, while the water itself is usually busy with ferries and yachts.

Windermere is not as busy as it's near neighbour, Bowness-on-Windermere, but has its own charms and attractions. It has excellent amenities and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars all within easy reach. The village has good public transport links with its own train station and bus routes.

Troutbeck Bridge lies to the north in between Windermere and Ambleside; handy for both but located just off the beaten track. Troutbeck Bridge has its own local amenities including a public swimming pool and a local pub. Between Troutbeck Bridge and the Low Wood Hotel lies Brockhole - The Lake District Visitor Centre. This has an adventure playground, exhibitions, cafe, shop and extensive grounds down to the lake and jetty.

Situated between Kendal and Windermere is the lovely village of Staveley which is often referred to as the Gateway to the Lakes. It mainly comprises of grey slate buildings which are nestled between the Rivers Kent and Gowan. It is ideally placed for exploring the rest of the Lake District and is only a few minutes away from the beautiful Kentmere valley.
