Willans Farm House is a large semi-detached cottage, sleeping up to seven guests, offering wonderful views across Dentdale and beyond to Whernside, the highest mountain of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Located within the valley of Deepdale, 2 miles from Dent, with a choice of three pubs, the cottage is within easy reach of amenities.
Dent is a pretty village with cobbled streets and authentic northern charm. It has long been the main village of an active farming community, and you can find out more about the people who shaped the village at the Dent Heritage Centre. Dent railway station is the highest train station in England, at 1,100 feet above sea level. It is part of the famous Carlisle to Settle railway line which crosses the Ribblehead Viaduct and is one of the most scenic routes in Britain.
As well as having the Yorkshire Dales National Park to enjoy, the cottage is only 15 miles from the Lake District National Park, and there are miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, as well as the cycle route 68 going right past the door. The Pennine Cycleway, also known as Sustrans Route 68, passes through Dent on its 350-mile route between Derby and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and there are also some excellent local cycle routes around the countryside and the village. The beautiful River Dee is nearby with lovely riverside walks and fishing. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
Willans Farm House can be booked together with Parkers Cottage (ref UK12610, ½ mile away) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria's south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way - a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour's drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don't miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown's Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
