Sepia Barn is a luxurious Grade II listed barn conversion which was originally built in the 1650s, showcasing beautiful views across Dentdale and beyond to Whernside, the highest of the Three Peaks. Situated on the main street in the lovely village of Dent with 1½ acres of its own private land, this characterful three-bedroom property built with traditional Yorkshire stone offers a wonderful retreat within the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is cosy and warm with underfloor heating throughout, traditional flagstone flooring on the ground floor and solid wood floors upstairs in the bedrooms. A steel mesh staircase and landing add a contemporary twist to the traditional finishes, while wood fibre insulations, lime plaster and vegan paint allow the solid stone walls to breathe, as buildings of this age were designed to do. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area on the ground floor is spacious and stylishly furnished. Discover a well-equipped kitchen with a host of appliances. Relax in the living area which is comfortably furnished with a four-seater L-shaped sofa and two armchairs. Within the same space is the dining table seating up to six guests and tasteful floor lamps. The garden and terrace at the back of the property is fully enclosed, has an outdoor dining table and gravity chairs seating for six guests and features direct views to Rise Hill.the immediate field adjoining the terrace can very often have sheep in it and therefore the low wall and large dogs may not be suitable in this rental. there are 2 car park permits for the car park that is directly next to the barn
The beautiful village of Dent, where the village pubs offer local ales and traditional pub food, has pretty cobbled streets and authentic northern charm. It has long been the main village of an active farming community, and you can find out more about the people who shaped the village at the Dent Heritage Centre. Dent train station, four miles from the village, is the highest train station in England, at 1,100 feet above sea level. It is part of the famous Carlisle to Settle Railway line which crosses the Ribblehead Viaduct and is one of the most scenic routes in Britain. Both Leeds and Carlisle are around 1½ hours away. Next door to Sepia Barn is a lovely tea room which serves cooked breakfasts and evening meals with the option to deliver directly to the holiday home, perfect for those days when you don’t fancy cooking. The two village pubs are also just a few seconds walk away from the property and the village also has a post office and a village store. As well as being home to part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Dent is only 15 miles from the Lake District National Park, and there are miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore. The Pennine Cycleway passes through Dent on its 350-mile route between Derby and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and there are also some excellent local loops that explore the countryside around the village. The beautiful River Dee is nearby with lovely riverside walks and fishing on offer. Shop 10 miles, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria's south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way - a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour's drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don't miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown's Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
