No. 2 is a picture perfect quirky cottage, steeped in history and centrally located in Kirkby Lonsdale. It is ideal for couples and small families wanting to enjoy all that this area has to offer.

The compact yet homely and tastefully decorated cottage boasts a modern kitchen with back door opening onto a small private courtyard. This little suntrap is perfect to enjoy the afternoon sun with a glass or your favourite tipple. Walking up the original stairs there is a good size family bathroom and a double bedroom. On the second floor is a maisonette with single bed and pull out bed, the low beams and ceiling add a heap of character but be careful and mind your head!

No. 2 is part of a row of pretty cottages facing the church. It is centrally located so all amenities are just a stone’s throw away, so if you decide to leave your car for the duration of your holiday, you can enjoy the many bars, restaurants, pubs and shops that Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer. There is a small market on the town square every Thursday to treat yourself to local produce. Kirkby Lonsdale has fantastic walks for you to explore as well as the renowned Devil’s Bridge which brings thousands of locals over the summer to enjoy swimming and picnics in the parks.

If you plan to use No. 2 as a base to the North Western attractions you won’t find anywhere better. Kirkby Lonsdale is centrally located between the Yorkshire Dales and Southern Cumbria, a gateway to the Lake District. Just a 15-minute drive from the cottage you will find yourself in Ingleton, famous for waterfalls, caving and climbing. You will not be short of outdoor activities and walking. Just 20 minutes’ to the North and you will reach many attractions such as South Lakes Safari Zoo, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Lakes Aquarium, Lakeland Motor Museum and Holker Hall Gardens. This is all before you reach the famous and stunning Lake Windermere. Beach 22 miles. Shop 220 yards, pub and restaurant 110 yards.

About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria's south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way - a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour's drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don't miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown's Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
