This magnificent 19th century Lakeland house with high ceilings and character is spread over three floors in the centre of Bowness-on-windermere! Nestled on the shores of Lake Windermere, the largest lake in England, the town of Bowness on Windermere is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Lake District and occupies the perfect location, in the heart of the central Lakes, for sightseeing and plenty of things to do. Bowness is the ideal destination for those who enjoy water sports or want to catch one of the lake cruisers that ply the lake. Many other outdoor activities are available in and around the town, including abseiling, cycling and karting. There is certainly never a shortage of things to do here.

About the local area

Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake.

The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside.

There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole `pitch and put' and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach.
