This charming cottage was the village post office for 30 years, now it has been carefully renovated to a very high standard while retaining gorgeous traditional features such as the exposed stonework in the living room. A double room with en-suite and a twin room (which could equally be a king size room due to the zip and link bed) provide flexibility for guests. Just a 10 minute walk out of the Georgian market town of Cockermouth you get all the benefits of the area while keeping a quiet village location. On the north west edge of the Lake District National Park and only a short drive to the Solway coast, Cockermouth is a bustling market town with a fantastic range of independent shops, museums, art centre and eating places and is best known as the birthplace of William Wordsworth. Just five and a half miles to Bassenthwaite Lake and nine to Whinlatter Forest for the days you want to go walking and the great border city of Carlisle with its medieval castle, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish border are all within an easy drive for the more sedate days.
