And of course there is also 150 miles of coastline where bays and cliffs offer surfing, kayaking and outdoor swimming opportunities.

Sailing offers a relaxing pastime where it’s just you, the boat and the wind surrounded by stunning landscapes. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the views on the move without the need to don your walking boots.

If you are looking for a bit more excitement why not try windsurfing or canoeing on Coniston Water,  Derwentwater, Thirlmere, Ullswater or Windermere where you will find some great facilities ideal for novices who don’t have their own equipment.

Of course great care needs to be taken on the Lake Districts many varied waterways so please be aware of any safety advice and always wear the appropriate equipment and clothing.
