Lucky Thirteen is an economically priced timber chalet situated on a site known as Dukes Meadow, on the edge of Greystoke Forest. It lies mid way between Caldbeck in the Northern fells and Ullswater in the Eastern Lakes, probably one of the most peaceful areas of Cumbria. It is ideal for cycling, with miles of country lanes and hardly any traffic and plenty of walks in the forest, or on the nearby fells. The delightful villages of Greystoke, Caldbeck and Hesket New Market are all within cycling distance and have shops, pubs and cafes. More amenities can be found in the bustling tourist town of Keswick or the market town of Penrith.

Ullswater is the Lake District’s second largest lake at nine miles long. Located in the eastern side of Cumbria, it bends and twists its way through dramatic mountain scenery on one side and a gently curving shoreline of green fields and woodland on the other.
Boating centres and marinas nestle unobtrusively on the lake edge, perfect for the water sports enthusiasts, or visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery from one of the steamers that have sailed the lake since 1855.
Many of the Lake District’s many walks have their starting point from around Ullswater, including the renowned trek to Helvellyn’s summit via Striding Edge. Or for the less energetic there are many low-level walks through beautiful countryside.
Of note is Glenridding which sits on the south western shore and is surrounded by the fells with wonderful scenic views. Pooley Bridge on the northern shore, with its 16th Century Bridge, Lakeland greystone houses and quaint teashops and Patterdale just to the south of Ullswater, cradled by mountains.
