Description

Nestled in the hillside, this magnificent building has the most spectacular views across the valley towards the mighty Skiddaw range, from its elevated location on the edge of Thornthwaite village. Until recently Ladstock Hall was a very grand country house hotel, a renowned venue for weddings, it has now been converted into several apartments and cottages the standard of which is excellent.
No. 3 is a spacious 1 bedroom "cottage" which is furnished in a traditional style using superb quality modern furnishings with excellent facilities and equipment. It also benefits from a separate locked store for bikes etc. This area is great for mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest,  walking on the surrounding fells and sailing or fishing on the lake. There is a bridleway immediately behind Ladstock Hall where you can walk to Braithwaite, a little over half a mile, which has a village shop, restaurant and 2 pubs each serving good food and real ale.

About the local area

Thornthwaite and Braithwaite are situated in between Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater in the Northern Lakes. These peaceful Lakeland villages are ideally located, with many local places of interest right on the doorstep.

These peaceful Lakeland villages are ideally located, with many local places of interest right on the doorstep; lakes, forests, mountains and the delightful market town of Keswick a short distance away. Great for cycling, walking, nature watching and water sports on the nearby lakes.

Whinlatter Forest Park is adjacent and is England’s only true Mountain Forest. From May to September visitors can see wild Bassenthwaite Ospreys raise their young, either at the lake or via video link to the Forest Park Visitor Centre. The park has miles of footpaths and cycle ways and provides a habitat for a wide range of wild life. They also have many organised activities and events throughout the year.

Both villages are within easy reach of all the essential amenities and Keswick is only 2 or 3 miles away. Braithwaite has a village shop and two excellent pubs both serving bar meals.

D Reeves -

We enjoyed a wonderful week at 3 Ladstock. The property is well located, we enjoyed stunning views of the snow capped Skiddaw range. The cottage is decorated, furnished and equipped to a very high standard and very well maintained and cared for. This was our first holiday with Cumbrian Cottages and we were most impressed.

P E Gill -

We left comments in the visitors' book. The cottage was delightful, with every comfort and convenience imaginable. It was also spotlessly clean - your caretakers/cleaners deserve a compliment for this.

K Warrener -

Very nice well equipped property

D M Hobbs -

We found the property more than lived up to the advertising. Property had all that was needed for our stay and the addition of so many brochures and DVDs was most welcome and thoughtful. In all, everything exceeded our expectations.

J Moor -

Very comfortable & well-equiped, and a good location - near footpaths, near a bus route, near Keswick, but quiet and with a great view.
