Description

Nestling on the northern fringe of the Lake District above a quaint village pub (one of the oldest in Cumbria), Emily’s View is a cosy bolthole ideal for exploring the northern lakes. Set on the first floor and furnished to a high standard, the open plan living room/kitchen has lovely views over the village and the northern fells including Skiddaw, one of England’s highest mountains.
Ireby is a peaceful, traditional Lakeland village set far from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. With an ancient 12th century old church and local pub, it’s a tranquil retreat from which to return to after exploring the surrounding fells. In the evening you can enjoy a meal in Emily’s Black Lion, in what the Cumberland News has described as ‘one the best places to eat in Cumbria’. The fells can be accessed right from your door and provide great walks for all abilities with stunning scenery without the hordes of tourist who are attracted to the nearby market town of Keswick. Beach 14 miles. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 20 yards.
Emily’s View can be booked together with Emily’s Nook (UK1049) to accommodate up to six guests.

About the local area

Quality real ales and traditional Lakeland grub can be enjoyed at Emily’s Black Lion (below the apartment). If you fancy a larger selection of drinks then head to the local Lakes Distillery, just 6 miles away, home to England’s only whisky, you can even take in a fascinating tour of how this came to be made. While that’s fun for the adults, the kids may prefer a day at the Lake District Wildlife Park, 5 miles away, where they can see over 100 species of exotic animals, everything from Asian Short Clawed Otters to Zebras! You can even have a personal encounter with some animals with the park’s ‘experience the wild’ encounters, described by The Guardian as a ‘life highlight’. It is just a 25-minute drive to both the popular and bustling lakeside town of Keswick and the traditional market town of Cockermouth. The charming village of Caldbeck is a scenic drive across Caldbeck Common.
