Set in the unspoilt northern Lakes, and away from the mainstream tourist tracks, this single storey holiday cottage stands in the grounds of a delightful country house hotel which is set in 2 acres of grounds just 4 miles from Keswick on the outskirts of Bassenthwaite Lake. With breathtaking views over open countryside and the lake, which is ½ a mile away, plus use of the hotel’s bar, you will be ensured of a relaxing stay with superb walking from the doorstep. Hotel with bar and restaurant 50 yards. Shops 5 miles. Restaurant within walking distance.

Please note that use of the hotel and its facilities will be closed from 18th December 2016, to 12th January 2017.

About the local area

Bassenthwaite Lake and village of the same name is situated just north west of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The magnificent Skiddaw (931m) can be seen rising to the east and Grisedale Pike (790m) to the south west.

Paths leading from Bassenthwaite village connect to circular walks in the area and holidaymakers are able to go fishing and sailing on the lake. From May to September look out for the wild Bassenthwaite Lake Ospreys raising their young chicks or watch the video link from Whinlatter Forest Visitor's Centre. Try a visit to the historic 17th century manor house, Mirehouse, which is close by on the eastern shore of the lake and has some lovely garden walks (Open April - October) or travel a few miles west to market town of Cockermouth or just a little further to Maryport on the coast.

This area offers the ideal base for exploring nearby Keswick; a charming Northern Lakes market town of great character and is well placed for touring the untouched northern and western lakes.
