A delightful 300 year old cottage which is full of character, with a wealth of exposed beams throughout and very good quality furnishings, which blend perfectly with the traditional features. The cottage is both spacious and well equipped, with the benefit of two bathrooms, private parking and courtyard garden. Situated in the heart of Bassenthwaite village with spectaular views of Skiddaw,  Primrose Cottage is in close proximity to the Sun Inn, which is renowned for its superb food and real ale. Children will enjoy feeding the ducks in the beck, which flows gently past the cottage.

About the local area

Bassenthwaite Lake and village of the same name is situated just north west of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The magnificent Skiddaw (931m) can be seen rising to the east and Grisedale Pike (790m) to the south west.

Paths leading from Bassenthwaite village connect to circular walks in the area and holidaymakers are able to go fishing and sailing on the lake. From May to September look out for the wild Bassenthwaite Lake Ospreys raising their young chicks or watch the video link from Whinlatter Forest Visitor's Centre. Try a visit to the historic 17th century manor house, Mirehouse, which is close by on the eastern shore of the lake and has some lovely garden walks (Open April - October) or travel a few miles west to market town of Cockermouth or just a little further to Maryport on the coast.

This area offers the ideal base for exploring nearby Keswick; a charming Northern Lakes market town of great character and is well placed for touring the untouched northern and western lakes.
