The beautiful area around Tarn Hows is a very popular place for tourists, with three adjoining tarns uniquely surrounded with a mass of coniferous woodland. This area has strong links with the famous children's author and illustrator, Beatrix Potter. When she became successful, she purchased the land which was then passed on to the National Trust when she passed away.
Attractive views of Helvellyn and the Langdale Pikes can be seen from this area andcombined with the relaxing trouble-free 1.5 mile walk around the tarn site makes for a great venture out for all. The paths are well looked after and sheltered by the shore making it brilliant for pushchairs and wheelchair users.
