Beatrix Potter 150th Anniversary – 28th July

2016 is the year we celebrate 150 years since the birth of Beatrix Potter, and Cumbria is bursting with fantastic events and things to do to mark the occasion.  One we won’t be missing this spring is a guided walk with a National Trust Ranger to Penny Hill in Eskdale. You can take in the beautiful surroundings while learning more about the farm that she owned. Don’t forget your picnic!

Kendal Calling – 28th-31st July

Held at the beautiful Lowther Deer Park, we couldn’t imagine a better setting for a music festival. The multi-award winning festival has some big names in the line-up, from Rudimental to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Cartmel Show 3rd August

"The most comprehensive and picturesque show in the North"

With a range of fantastic family entertainment, set against the beautiful backdrop of parkland Cartmel Show is the place to be this August. Held at the famous Cartmel Racecourse, it’s always a real favourite for both locals and visitors. Solfest 26th-28th August

If you’re looking for an authentic, local music festival that focuses on handpicked talent then Solfest is the place for you! Since it launched in 2003, it has grown to become one of the UK’s best loved independent festivals. Run solely by incredible volunteers, it’s a fantastic event that really brings together people of all ages. But it’s not just music… there’s a creative kids area and even a Healing garden where you can practice yoga!

Tour of Britain Carlisle to Kendal 5th September

The Lake District is hosting the second stage of the 2016 Tour of Britain, the British Cycling's premier road cycling event. Setting of in Carlisle, cyclists will travel through the heart of Cumbria and the Lake District to finish in Kendal. If you want to spectate… other areas on route will include Penrith, Cockermouth, Keswick and Ambleside. Where better to enjoy the excitement?!
