Perhaps one of the most striking rock climbing challenges in the Lake District Napes Needle is not for the faint hearted! Located high up Great Gable the Napes Needle is one of three main Rock climbing areas, Westmorland Crags, The Napes and Kern Knotts. The Needle is graded as `Hard Severe' and it's easy to see why. Jutting out of the rock face there are no permanent anchors or bolts and climbing back down is made harder when there are high winds up on the fell.
