Whinlatter Forest Park can be found up the Whinlatter Pass past Braithwaite. This is a brilliant place to get spectacular views over the Lake District and into Scotland. This is a popular visitor’s attraction especially as it is England’s only all forest mountain.

The woodland will provide you with lots of activites which could last you a few days with a large variety of walks, mountain rides and fun activities both for adults and children! Siskin Cafe is available for lunch or alternatively you can eat your pack lunches in one of the four picnic areas.

Many different walking trails are available for all abilities ranging from gravel roads and surfaced paths to tracks of more difficult terrain to explore. With numbered posts throughout the forest allowing you to keep track of your route or even create your own easily. For children there are two thrilling routes to do, where they will follow the rabbit or fox footprints around the walk whilst learning about animals and the surroundings. A treat will then be available for them on completion.

If you are a lover of mountain biking, this is a incredible place to come with two brand new trails. The Altura trail is the north loop which is 15kms of new exhilarating routes including berms, jumps, rock features, skinnies, cork screws and table tops. The Quercus trail is the south loop which is the easier of the two but is still thrilling with lots of bends and twists ending with a challenging board walk over a bog and through dense conifer woodland.
