Cobblestone Barn was converted in 2010 from the original barn into a stunning self catering cottage, sure to appeal to even the most discerning guests. The owners have retained as much of the character as possible, with beamed ceilings and stone walls, then furnished and equipped it luxuriously to ensure the comfort of guests. The cottage is situated in the pretty village of Melmerby with it's own village store and tea room, at the foot of the Pennine Hills. Next door is the Shepherd's Inn with restaurant and bar and the renowned village bakery is across the road. The ground floor en suite bedroom is convenient for disabled or elderly guests.

The Eden Valley is set in a tranquil corner of East Cumbria nestling in between The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines; all areas of outstanding natural beauty and a lovely holiday destination at any time of the year.
There’s plenty to occupy visitors from cycling the quiet country lanes (Try the Eden Valley Circular Cycle Route) to taking gentle riverside strolls, or maybe its pony trekking, fishing or golf and despite its rural location there’s plenty of visitor attractions close by.
Travelling among undulating meadows visitors will come across charming villages which are dotted throughout the area and busy market towns such as Penrith, renowned for its specialist shops, history and architecture. Picturesque Appleby with its 12th century church, Norman Castle and wide medieval main street, lays to the south east of Penrith, here at Appleby station you can catch the train for a ride along the scenic Settle-Carlisle railway line.
The Eden Valley truly is Cumbria’s ‘Hidden Gem’ which maintains the illusion of untouched remoteness despite its extremely accessible location.

Very well-appointed kitchen. Lovely spacious double height lounge. The pub next door is very improved and having the Village Bakery across the road is very convenient.
