Description

A super cottage in the middle of this popular Lakeland village, Hideaway is a fine example of the very best in self catering properties. The cottage ticks all the boxes in terms of character and charm, displayed in exposed beams and feature stonework and the owner has used his wealth of experience in running a country house hotel to ensure his guests will want for nothing. Hideaway Cottage has been ’dressed’ in every sense of the word, from the choice of prints and ornaments to the collection of hand picked antiquities, all finished off with sumptuous fabrics and quality pieces of furniture.
The property has a most romantic feel about it and to compliment this, a pre-bookable welcome pack is available to purchase for that rather special time away, to include champagne, chocolates, roses and fluffy dressing gowns.
Fell Cottage 129198 is under the same ownership as Hideaway Cottage.

About the local area

Lake Windermere is perhaps the best know area in the Lake District and Windermere village itself is about 1km from the lake. The lake stretches from Waterhead, near Ambleside, to Lakeside at its narrow southern end, over 10 miles in length and the largest lake in England. Wooded slopes dotted with cottages and houses line its shores, while the water itself is usually busy with ferries and yachts.

Windermere is not as busy as it's near neighbour, Bowness-on-Windermere, but has its own charms and attractions. It has excellent amenities and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars all within easy reach. The village has good public transport links with its own train station and bus routes.

Troutbeck Bridge lies to the north in between Windermere and Ambleside; handy for both but located just off the beaten track. Troutbeck Bridge has its own local amenities including a public swimming pool and a local pub. Between Troutbeck Bridge and the Low Wood Hotel lies Brockhole - The Lake District Visitor Centre. This has an adventure playground, exhibitions, cafe, shop and extensive grounds down to the lake and jetty.

Situated between Kendal and Windermere is the lovely village of Staveley which is often referred to as the Gateway to the Lakes. It mainly comprises of grey slate buildings which are nestled between the Rivers Kent and Gowan. It is ideally placed for exploring the rest of the Lake District and is only a few minutes away from the beautiful Kentmere valley.
