Description

Boasting amazing views of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakeland Fells and the spectacular sunsets over Morecambe Bay, Clearwater is one of a handful of stunning eco lodges set on a hillside above the clear, blue water of Jackdaw Quarry, near Carnforth, Lancashire. Jackdaw Quarry is also home to the UK’s premier scuba diving centre and PADI dive school.  Guests have the opportunity, should they so wish, to sample scuba diving for the first time or further develop their existing skills (visit the Dive Site for more details). Scuba diving aside, there is so much to enjoy at Clearwater ‘ above the water’! The local area is perfect for cycling and there are many delightful walks available from the door. Clearwater’s excellent location means easy access to the Lakes and Dales (e.g. Windermere is just 30 minutes drive away).

The accommodation at Clearwater is simply stunning. Built to the highest standards, the property is clad in local stone and features a turf roof sown with wild flowers! Stylish and contemporary, the interior has been well thought out and beautifully dressed. Equally impressive are the list of standard features, which include discreet lighting, under floor heating throughout, a central vacuum system and satellite TV and DVD players in every bedroom! There are three good bedrooms, with one on ground floor level for ease of access, if required. The property has two glass fronted and covered balconies looking over the water, with a gas barbeque provided on the main balcony. Guests can enjoy an al fresco BBQ meal on the deck whilst gazing down on the divers below!

About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria’s south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way – a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour’s drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don’t miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown’s Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.

A lovely place to stay - the house was clean and very home-from-home and it was in a good location to see both the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales.

We loved the property, it has to be the best property we have been in.Spotless and had everything we needed. Bedding was lovely, showers fabulous and the bathrooms were outstanding. Enjoyed having coffee and beers at the diving centre cafe. Loved feeding the fish and watching the divers.
