Description

Situated in the small village of Little Asby this listed 1600s farmhouse is ideal for individuals looking for a unique and charming property. It has been tastefully restored yet retains many of its original features. The property oozes character from the stone floors, to original fireplace, and asymmetrical original wooden beams in the ceilings. The property was built during Charles I’s civil war, as a farmhouse and remained as such through four generations of farmers, until it was sold to a non-farming owner in the 1980s. The property features a grand master bedroom, and living room, where everywhere you look you can see original features on display amongst the antique furniture.

Little Asby is a quiet hamlet close to Kirkby Stephen and Sedbergh in the Howgill Fells. The location is ideal for touring the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales, being just 18 miles from Garsdale Head in the Yorkshire Dales, and 21 miles from Haweswater, and 30 miles to Windermere in the Lake District. About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria's south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way - a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour's drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don't miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown's Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
