Description

Riverbank Cottage sits at the bottom of a valley in the middle of remote working farmland just 1 1/2 miles from Tebay. Panoramic views can be enjoyed from the cottage and its grounds down the river Lune towards Tebay Fell, The Howgills and Jeffrey’s Mount. The sheep dotted landscape is a far cry from the tarmac of the M6 which is just minutes away - and you’d never know it.
Newly built to blend in with the existing buildings, this beautiful cottage offers quality accommodation for those looking for a very peaceful retreat. The living areas have been cleverly designed to ensure best advantage is had of the fabulous views. Kingfishers and Heron can be seen catching their prey in the river below whilst sheep graze the land alongside the access road and surrounding the cottage. This really is a super place for lovers of nature and numerous walks along bridle paths and fell sides are readily available from the door.
Riverbank Cottage is ideal for those with mobility difficulties, being all on one level and having a walk in wet room for showering. Positioned next to the river, the bungalow style cottage has a wonderful vista from all windows and sits close to the fully enclosed children’s playground, complete with swings, slide and even a basketball hoop.
Riverbank Cottage can be booked with Coombe Cottage and River View Cottage on the same site to accommodate up to 16 people.

About the local area

Kirkby Lonsdale is in Cumbria's south east in between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; an historic market town in an area of great natural beauty with riverside and country walks.

There are many riverside and country walks in the area, and historic buildings to see in the town itself, including the 11th century Norman parish church. While some market towns have become spoilt over the years, Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retain the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner, and Ruskin.

Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way - a great route for all keen cyclists.

Half an hour's drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don't miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown's Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
