Kirkby Lonsdale is just short of a mile from the development. This historic market town sits by the River Lune, most famous for being painted by J. Turner and has a good number of independent butchers, bakers and boutiques. Surrounding the town are pretty hills and winding lanes perfect for a cycle ride or long relaxing walk. The Yorkshire Dales and the Howgill Fells are just within view and both offer different geographical landscapes to explore.
Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbria Cycle Way – a great route for all keen cyclists.
Half an hour’s drive from Kirkby Stephen is the beautiful area of Silverdale - an Area of Outstanding Beauty, offering a truly inspiring escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Don’t miss the headland of Jack Scout leading to Jenny Brown’s Point. From here, look out across the bay to see Humphrey Head where, so legend has it, the last wolf in England was slain.
