Description

Situated at the foot of Butter Crags, Little Beeches enjoys a secluded courtyard setting with its neighbouring property, Beech Ghyll and is a gentle stroll from the centre of romantic Grasmere. The village has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops for you to sample throughout the day and into the evening and a good local bus service gives you the chance to explore the busier resorts of Keswick, Ambleside or Bowness, quite a contrast to the traditional rural feel of Grasmere. The award winning Michelin starred restaurant at Forest Side Hotel is also only ½ mile away.
Little Beeches offers neat yet comfortable accommodation for two (and your small dog) and is well equipped for a self catering break at any time of the year. The owners have provided a good selection of walking and guide books to help you plan your activities throughout the week.  There is access to a sitting area reached by the garden steps with attractive mountain views.

About the local area

Grasmere is a charming village in the heart of the Lake District National Park, situated in a valley surrounded by the lush green slopes of the Lakeland hills. Lovely old cottages and houses built of the local blue-green slate sit along side the art galleries and shops that line the twisty streets of the village.

Once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth visitors can see his two former homes - Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount and Gardens. At the centre of the village is St. Oswald's Church which contains the Wordsworth family graves.

A short distance to the west is the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the spectacular Langdale Valley with superb scenery all around. Langdale offers a variety of fell and low level walks making it a good base for walkers of all abilities.

Linked to Lake Grasmere by the River Rothay, Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes in Cumbria measuring 3/4 mile long and 1/4 mile wide. Up the hill overlooking the lake, you can find RydaL Caves in the hill rock, they are surprisingly large and over 200 years ago they were used as a quarry supplying stone to the local villages.
