Description

William Wordsworth described Grasmere as 'the loveliest spot that Man hath ever found' and some 160 years after his passing, his words still ring true. Huntingstile Lodge, a former gardener's cottage and built around 1870, is accessed down a private driveway and commands possibly THE best view of Grasmere Water and her surroundings fells from both inside the house and from her mature grounds. Here guests have the chance to enjoy their own little bit of Lakeland. From Huntingstile Crag, ramblers can take in the grand vista of 5 major lakes and tarns and glorious sunsets over the Langdales or simply wander through the ground and perch on one of the many strategically placed benches until the sun goes down. The stylish and comfortable interior here at Huntingstile Lodge is straight out of 'Homes and Gardens' with a clever contemporary twist on a traditional theme, all cleverly married against a backdrop of that stunning view, taking in Helm Cragg, Stone Arthur and Loughrigg.A magnificent example of five star luxurious lifestyle living and only a gentle stroll from one of Lakeland's most traditional villages, the lodge offers superb facilities for the larger party but is equally a wonderful retreat for that special break for two, romantic Grasmere being the inspiration to many writers and artists throughout the ages - go on, be inspired!

About the local area

Grasmere is a charming village in the heart of the Lake District National Park, situated in a valley surrounded by the lush green slopes of the Lakeland hills. Lovely old cottages and houses built of the local blue-green slate sit along side the art galleries and shops that line the twisty streets of the village.

Once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth visitors can see his two former homes – Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount and Gardens. At the centre of the village is St. Oswald’s Church which contains the Wordsworth family graves.

A short distance to the west is the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the spectacular Langdale Valley with superb scenery all around. Langdale offers a variety of fell and low level walks making it a good base for walkers of all abilities.

What our customers say

Catherine Pitcher - April 2012

What an amazing house! walking round Grasmere Lake you see all these wonderful old victorian houses and it was so lovely to stay in one of them. The house was really comfortable and well equipped and we were lucky enough to have the master bedroom with its stunning views of the Lake. We come to the Lakes once a year and are looking at dates to rebook the house as nothing else we've stayed in has come close.

Mrs G Barlow - September 2011

Large enough for us all! A beautiful house.

Mrs L J Brant - July 2011

Excellent property would highly recommend it. Everything was perfect from booking on the internet to leaving keys at the end of the holiday. Will come again.
