Holly Cottage is a delightful stone-built detached cottage located directly on the banks of the River Rothay and pleasantly situated within the very heart of Grasmere. The cottage enjoys fine views of the river and the Fairfield fell range beyond and being so centrally situated, guests can enjoy some wonderful walking for all abilities straight from the door as well as all that this rather romantic village has to offer. A fine selection of restaurants and bars are dotted around this fairly level village and no trip to Grasmere would be complete without a gentle amble around the beautiful Lake, just a few minutes walk from the cottage.

This charming property has been thoughtfully arranged and recently redecorated and dressed  to provide a perfect holiday retreat for all seasons. Holly Cottage has been restyled with contemporary, fresh colours and quality furnishings to create a most stylish take on a traditional Lakeland cottage, the lounge dining room thoughtfully arranged around the newly installed wood burning stove and providing direct access to the riverside terrace and more of that glorious view. The cottage has secure, private parking for three cars on the driveway allowing guests to simply park up and forget about the cars for a week. 

Included in your holiday is free membership to the leisure facilities at the Wordsworth Hotel which is only fifty yards walk down the road. These will include use of the swimming pool, whirlpool bath, gym and sauna.

About the local area

Grasmere is a charming village in the heart of the Lake District National Park, situated in a valley surrounded by the lush green slopes of the Lakeland hills. Lovely old cottages and houses built of the local blue-green slate sit along side the art galleries and shops that line the twisty streets of the village.

Once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth visitors can see his two former homes – Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount and Gardens. At the centre of the village is St. Oswald’s Church which contains the Wordsworth family graves.

A short distance to the west is the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the spectacular Langdale Valley with superb scenery all around. Langdale offers a variety of fell and low level walks making it a good base for walkers of all abilities.
