Description

Less than a mile from Grange-over-Sands and set in extensive grounds with panoramic views over coast and country, these spacious, well-equipped apartments provide an ideal base for exploring Cumbria’s Lake District and Yorkshire’s Dales National Parks. Occupying an elevated hillside position, with enviable views over the surrounding countryside, carefully maintained golf course and tidal estuary, Hazelwood Court offers a style of comfortable holiday accommodation designed to satisfy a variety of tastes and requirements. Set in 4 acres of terraced, landscaped gardens and natural woodland, this impressive, conservation area located, late Victorian country house has been thoughtfully converted into a number of light, spacious and carefully maintained apartments at ground, first and second floor levels, of which five are available for holiday occupation. Enhanced by their high corniced ceilings and large windows, all of the apartment living rooms and most bedrooms enjoy stunning, unspoilt views over Morecambe Bay to the distant Pennine Hills beyond. The apartments have been sympathetically decorated and furnished to retain their period charm whilst still offering all the comforts and facilities that are normally expected in a holiday home.
The owners, who live on site, are normally available to personally welcome their guests and to show them into their apartments, and also to provide any assistance required throughout the holiday. A comprehensive collection of visitor attraction information is available in the main entrance foyer, as well as a library of games, jigsaws and books for indoor entertainment. Wi-Fi internet access is available in all the apartments. There is plenty of free, level off-road parking close to the building, and cars can be driven up to the main entrance doors to assist those with mobility difficulties for whom the ground floor apartments may be suitable. Seats are available on the view terrace and also along the wildlife rich woodland pathway.
The popular coastal town of Grange-over-Sands, which is within walking distance of Hazelwood Court is a refreshingly friendly community of traditional shops, cafés, gardens and parks, with a regularly used bandstand and traffic-free, mile long promenade. Since the mid Victorian period, when the arrival of the railway changed this once sleepy fishing village into a genteel holiday resort, the town has managed to retain its tasteful, low-key character. Not renowned for its nightlife and amusement arcades, Grange-over-Sands is still appreciated by those looking for a more laid back experience. In nearby Cartmel, the birthplace of sticky toffee puddings, there are popular summertime National Hunt race meetings, several gastro pubs and the nationally acclaimed L’Enclume restaurant, all set amongst the historical cottages clustering around its magnificent 12th-century priory church.
Just a 15-minute drive from junction 36 of the M6, the apartments are very accessible, making daily excursions into the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks extremely easy. Whilst the road network in the area is very good, train and bus service links are also readily available, providing an alternative for those who wish to take a break from driving. From the main road you can take a bus into Grange over Sands and other local villages, or to Kendal which then offers connections all over the Lake District. The train station at Grange-over-Sands is on the Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness line, which connects with the high speed London to Scotland West Coast main line, and also with the scenic West Cumbria coastal route between Barrow and Carlisle.
Ideally located for exploring the Lake District, Hazelwood Court is just 6 miles from Lake Windermere. Further afield, you will find a variety of things to see and do for people of all ages and intere...

About the local area

Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, Cartmel is easily accessible, with its winding streets, pretty cottages, whitewashed houses and medieval buildings leading to the village square. The village offers visitors many modern surprises in the form of fine quality attractions, shops, and eateries.

Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th - 18th century buildings providing, as they have for centuries, friendly inns, well stocked shops and private dwellings. It is also home to Britain's smallest National Hunt racecourse and the National Trust attraction of Cartmel Priory Gatehouse, a historically important building situated in the heart of the village.

Occupying one of the most attractive spots in the area, Grange-over-Sands looks out across the expansive sands of Morecambe Bay, a rich feeding ground for many species of birds that take advantage of the great climate in the area. It is easily accessible from the Lake District (Lake Windermere is only seven miles away) and towns such as Kendal are also just a short drive from here.

There is much to do and see on the Peninsular from golf , horse riding and fishing to hot air ballooning and parachuting! There also a good number of great walks, plus many places of historical interest.
