Description

This beautiful Edwardian property was built in 1911 by a local man who, having retired from milling due to ill health, built Vale View Stores as a local shop where the villagers could buy local produce. The local doctor also had a consulting room in what is now the dining room and in more recent years, Vale View has traded as a  bakery and tea room serving visitors en route to nearby Cartmel, Grange Over Sands and the steamers at Lakeside. Situated in the now bypassed hamlet of High Newton, there's a good local pub across the road and a great local butchers within walking distance.

Beautifully transformed for 21st century living by the new owners, Vale View now presents a superb and quality accommodation with the emphasis very much on luxurious lifestyle living whilst ensuring its sustainable future with environmentally friendly heating, lighting and water collecting. Period colours have been used throughout Vale View to echo its bygone era; deep herringbone and rich roses are perfectly married with handpicked accessories and soft furnishings to create a stylish and homely feel. The hub of the house is surely the bespoke kitchen which is fit for any budding Jamie or James among you, the equipment included an instant hot water tap, so no need for a kettle and a grill pit, ideal for those chops bought at the local butchers across the road.

About the local area

Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, Cartmel is easily accessible, with its winding streets, pretty cottages, whitewashed houses and medieval buildings leading to the village square. The village offers visitors many modern surprises in the form of fine quality attractions, shops, and eateries.

Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th - 18th century buildings providing, as they have for centuries, friendly inns, well stocked shops and private dwellings. It is also home to Britain’s smallest National Hunt racecourse and the National Trust attraction of Cartmel Priory Gatehouse, a historically important building situated in the heart of the village.

Occupying one of the most attractive spots in the area, Grange-over-Sands looks out across the expansive sands of Morecambe Bay, a rich feeding ground for many species of birds that take advantage of the great climate in the area. It is easily accessible from the Lake District (Lake Windermere is only seven miles away) and towns such as Kendal are also just a short drive from here.

There is much to do and see on the Peninsular from golf , horse riding and fishing to hot air ballooning and parachuting! There also a good number of great walks, plus many places of historical interest.
