Also known as Lindale-in-Cartmel, Lindale is a small village in the Parish of Allithwaite Upper, residing just off the A590 road that runs through the South Lakeland area. Lindale sits high on a hill, overlooking Morecambe Bay, with close links to nearby Cartmel and to Grange Over Sands. Lindale is the perfect spot to enjoy peaceful retreats and cottage holidays in the Lake District, while it also makes a great launch pad from which to enjoy the majesty and splendour of lakes like Windermere and Ambleside. Whether your adrenaline source of choice is hill walking, mountain climbing, sailing, water sports or bird watching, you will be spoilt for choice when you start to explore Lindale and the surrounding area. Lindale has become a popular centre of business for prestigious car brands like BMW, Volkswagen and Audi, providing an important source of income for the villagers who live and work locally. Lindale is home to two pubs; the Royal Oak (known locally as "top house") and the Lindale Inn (known locally as "bottom house"). The latter receives high praise on Cumbrian pub guide, which says of it: "Usually has up to four real ales on offer from the Mitchells group. Is very popular in the summer when trade is boosted by tourists. I've never had a bad pint here."
