The apartments have been sympathetically decorated and furnished to retain their period charm whilst still offering all the comforts and facilities that are normally expected in a holiday home.
The owners, who live on site, are normally available to personally welcome their guests and to show them into their apartments, and also to provide any assistance required throughout the holiday. A comprehensive collection of visitor attraction information is available in the main entrance foyer, as well as a library of games, jigsaws and books for indoor entertainment. There is plenty of free, level off-road parking close to the building, and cars can be driven up to the main entrance doors to assist those with mobility difficulties for whom the ground floor apartments may be suitable. The popular coastal town of Grange-over-Sands, which is within walking distance of Hazelwood Court is a refreshingly friendly community of traditional shops, cafés, gardens and parks, with a regularly used bandstand and traffic-free, mile long promenade. Since the mid Victorian period, when the arrival of the railway changed this once sleepy fishing village into a genteel holiday resort, the town has managed to retain its tasteful, low-key character. Not renowned for its nightlife and amusement arcades, Grange-over-Sands is still appreciated by those looking for a more laid back experience. In nearby Cartmel, the birthplace of sticky toffee puddings, there are popular summertime National Hunt race meetings, several gastro pubs and the nationally acclaimed L’Enclume restaurant, all set amongst the historical cottages clustering around its magnificent 12th-century priory church.
Just a 15-minute drive from junction 36 of the M6, the apartments are very accessible, making daily excursions into the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks extremely easy. Whilst the road network in the area is very good, train and bus service links are also readily available, providing an alternative for those who wish to take a break from driving. From the main road you can take a bus into Grange over Sands and other local villages, or to Kendal which then offers connections all over the Lake District. The train station at Grange-over-Sands is on the Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness line, which connects with the high speed London to Scotland West Coast main line, and also with the scenic West Cumbria coastal route between Barrow and Carlisle.
