Description

Bowness, on the eastern shores of Windermere, is a hive of activity by day and by night, a host of shops, restaurants and café bars lining the main street as it winds down to the bay. Tilberthwaite and Elterwater are two ground floor apartments of exceptional quality, tucked behind the main thoroughfare of this popular tourist and walkers’ hot spot; in a tranquil setting, yet they lay within the village centre amongst the bistros, inns, deli’s and shops. Tilberthwaite is an idyllic retreat year round for walkers and families alike; for those wishing to get away from it all or wanting to explore this wonderful part of the Lakes. Much thought has been taken in preparing these spacious apartments for holiday letting, and the contemporary decor and furnishings have been combined with original architectural features; the results are outstanding. Tilberthwaite guarantees a warm welcome after a day of exploring the fells, lakes or surrounding villages: its beautiful lounge; the well equipped kitchen’s large farmhouse table, perfect for a meal with family or friends whilst recounting the day’s adventures; whilst the two comfortable bedrooms are sufficiently apart to allow maximum privacy. Whatever attracts you; whether it is Wordsworth, Scafell, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin or the Langdales, you are only a few minutes walk and a short ferry crossing to Windermere’s western shore, its red squirrels, Hill Top, Claife Heights, and the fells beyond.
Tilberthwaite can be booked individually or together with Elterwater (ref 128163)  to accommodate up to eight people.

About the local area

Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake.

The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside.

There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole `pitch and put' and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach.
