Description

Oakthwaite Lodge is indeed a most unusual, yet stylish name and one that creates intrigue, as does this remarkable property, which is set midway between Windermere and Bowness. Accessed up a private drive, shared only with the neighbouring property, Oakthwaite Lodge is close to all the attractions of the South Lakes but far enough away to enjoy some much deserved peace and quiet.
The bungalow has been designed and finished with great care and with the emphasis very much on comfort and quality. Kitchen and bathroom fittings have been combined with state of the art TV system and well chosen pieces of furniture to create a most eye catching look and the owners obvious flair for interior design is evident in every room.

About the local area

Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake.

The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside.

There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole `pitch and put' and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach.
