On the first floor of this beautiful 200 year old building, Brantfell Retreat sits tucked away in a slightly elevated position above Lake Windermere. The lake and mountain views and the super location, close to Brantfell, from where there is direct access onto the famous Dales Way and the surrounding fell ranges, will beckon walkers of all abilities to sample the natural beauty of this popular destination. A few minutes stroll from the centre of Bowness on Windermere where a plethora of restaurants, shops and cinema await you.

Originally part of the stable to the manor house and later a working spinnery, Brantfell Retreat is now a delightful hideaway. Light floods in through the stunning picture windows, which offer views of the lake and Langdale Pikes in the distance.  Polished solid oak wooden floors, a luxury Victorian bathroom, wrought iron fireplace and beautifully coordinating decorations and linens result in a clever mix of contemporary and traditional.

About the local area

Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake.

The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside.

There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole `pitch and put' and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach.
