By day, visitors of all ages and abilities take to the surrounding fell ranges or head down to the water's edge at Waterhead and when nights falls, Ambleside takes on a rather different feel with a variety of low key entertainment on hand, the village having two cinemas, an indoor climbing wall open until 10pm and a good selection of traditional pubs, many offering quiz nights and live music throughout the year.
