Description

Ambleside is a super base for a first or return trip to Southern Lakeland. Awash with a host of activities for all ages and abilities, there’s certainly plenty of attractions to enjoy throughout the day and into the evening yet peace and tranquility can always be found on the slopes of the surrounding fell range, the top of Loughrigg a manageable hike, well worth the effort.
Centrally placed for enjoying all that this Lakeland village has to offer, La’l Tethera is a superb, stylish bolt hole for just for two, somewhere to relax, unwind and spend precious time together. Light and airy and beautifully dressed with calming décor and co-ordinating neutral fabrics, this first floor apartment is well equipped with up to the minute facilities for a self-catering break, whatever time of year you plan to visit.

"Windermere is a truly spectacular and picturesque area to visit with plenty of attractions to explore. It is well known for its natural beauty and variety of walks however, there are also plenty of other outdoor activities including horse riding, golf, sailing and climbing which are just to name a few! Other activities that are a bit more unique include hot air balloon rides and adventure days – there really is something for everyone. Windermere is also home to a variety of attractions that are fun for the whole family including Lakes Aquarium and Brockhole which has a collection of activities to enjoy. Windermere is a lovely, idyllic place to spend a relaxing holiday with the whole family.
Nearby to Windermere is the village of Staveley which is another small area to explore. It hosts a treasure trail where visitors can get involved and try to solve the mystery – perfect entertainment for the whole party to enjoy! Troutbeck Bridge is a passing point which leads to Ambleside where a wealth of history can be revealed at the Roman Fort or visitors can simply enjoy a walk around the idyllic and beautifully maintained Stagshaw Gardens. Windermere and its surroundings have a huge variety of different attractions and activities within the beautiful, scenic area of the Lake District."

Stockghyll Force

The water of Stock Ghyll force tumbles down beautifully over the rocks before pleasantly running further along through the town of Ambleside. To reach the waterfall you take the picturesque footpath through the Stock Ghyll Woods which in early spring is beautiful with all the colourful daffodils.

Low Wood Watersports and Activity Centre is located on Lake Windermere and is the place to go if you want to experience the great activities on the water.

Zeffirellis is one of the main attractions in Ambleside with many things to offer such as a Cinema, Live Music, a Restaurant and Cafe.

Ambleside Climbing Wall

This is a fantastic climbing venue in Ambleside with indoor climbing wall, bouldering room and small cafe. These superb indoor facilities are open to all those over the age of 5 and with opening times which extend on into the evening - its great for when you can't get into the hills.

Rydal Water
Rydal Water

Linked to Lake Grasmere by the River Rothay, Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes in Cumbria measuring 3/4 mile long and 1/4 mile wide. Up the hill overlooking the lake, you can find RydaL Caves in the hill rock, they are surprisingly large and over 200 years ago they were used as a quarry supplying stone to the local villages.

Located on the outskirts of Ambleside you can find the Ambleside Roman Fort which dates back to the 2nd century. These remains are well marked and were probably built during Roman times as a watch out. It is now managed and protected by the National Trust.
