Archway Cottage is a very special love nest for two, tucked away from the hustle and bustle in the older conservation area of the village, yet only a stone's throw from the very heart of Ambleside. This popular village is the perfect choice for the first time and returning visitor and has an excellent selection of shops, bars and award wining restaurants and traditional pubs serving speciality beers, home cooked fayre and with the occasional live music in the evenings. Walks for all abilities can be enjoyed straight from the door onto the slopes of Wansfell, Loughrigg and the Fairfield Horseshoe.
This unique property has been thoughtfully designed to make best use of the space available and picturesque setting, the result being a contemporary and quality holiday home with a wealth of interesting features, beautifully dressed with stylish fabrics and accessories. Much thought has been taken in creating exposed oak woodwork to compliment the original trusses, a bespoke fireside seat beside the wood burning stove for two and a stunning, romantic mezzanine bedroom area with glass and stainless finish, created by local craftsmen, vaulted ceiling and huge beams. Glimpses of the local fell ranges can be had from the living area, sufficiently tempting for those walkers among you across to Loughrigg and the Fairfield Horseshoe and with private, garage parking available, guests can simply park up for the week and enjoy the delights of this lovely part of Lakeland 'au pied' or by bicycle, storage available for your wheels.

Located right in the centre of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is surrounded by beautiful scenery. This bustling, busy market town offers visitors numerous shops, cosy pubs and plenty of places to eat out.
Ambleside has easy access to the surrounding fells and mountains and is an excellent base from which to tour the Lake District. A short walk from the town centre is Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70ft waterfall and to the southeast is Jenkins Crag (730ft), with its great views of Ambleside and the surrounding hills. Well worth a visit is Stagshaw Garden, a woodland garden with lovely floral displays set on a steep hillside overlooking Lake Windermere. From the garden walks lead through Skelghyll Woods to the fells beyond.
For the less energetic, there are strolls along the shore of Lake Windermere, boat trips down the lake and back, or maybe just potter around the many outdoor shops, craft shops and galleries before a good pub lunch.

Great location and amazingly renovated cottage
Been here before and love the cottage. The location is also perfect for pubs, restaurants, shops etc. It would be nice if you could bring your dog here.
It was a lovely cottage. Small, quiet and cosy - just what we wanted!
