Cumbrian Cottages Policy
Cumbrian Cottages operate a strict policy of only letting cottages that can achieve a minimum 3 star VisitBritain (VB )grading. Our pricing remains very competitive in an effort to provide value for money quality accommodation.
VisitBritain ( formerly the English Tourist Council ) developed common standards for the quality assessment of self catering accommodation and every one of our cottages is inspected annually by VisitBritain quite independently of our own inspections.
We believe that ‘self certified’ assessments and own star rated systems of Self Catering accommodation providers is not an independent assessment and would not stand up to the full quality rigours of the Visitbritain policies.
There are minimum entry requirements to be recognised by VB and to obtain a higher rating an establishment will provide an enhanced quality across all areas of:
- Exterior
- Cleanliness
- Management efficiency
- Public areas eg lounge dining rooms
- Bedrooms
- Bathrooms & WC’s
- Kitchen & additional facilities
Quality is important to guests and they expect consistency throughout the property.
