Langdale Valley

Some of the most spectacular and dramatic scenery in the Lake District can be found in the Langdale Valley. Situated in the Central Lakes it is in a perfect position to visit and explore this amazing environment as well as not being too far away from amenities and attractions. Full of breathtaking photo opportunities, this valley goes from the Langdale peaks all the way down to the west of Ambleside.

Elterwater is a small lake found near the bottom of the Langdale peaks, on a clear day you can see brilliant reflections of the peaks in the water. The village of Elterwater can be found only half a mile from the lake and is a pretty little village with a high amount of buildings now being holiday cottages. With this stunning scenery, it is no wonder so many people want to come and holiday here. The River Brathay flows south down the valley from Elterwater down to Lake Windermere providing another source of water in the valley. There is a fantastic walk you can do from the village of Elterwater, down past the lake to Skelwith Bridge near the base of the valley.

This impressive valley is a must for keen walkers and climbers, with a large variety of different terrain and levels of walks and climbs to allow you to make the most of visiting the Lake District.
